Board Layout and Features Cont.
The 8pin 12v CPU power connection is located behind the PWM heatsink. What is not clear in the photo is that Gigabyte has left an opening in the I/O panel which gives you plenty of room to access the plug if it ever needs to be removed.
The I/O panel features many common connections including PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse ports, digital audio over optical, IEEE 1394, USB2, USB3, eSATA, RJ-45 network connection, and 6 analog audio connections for 7.1 channel sound. One thing is certain; you have plenty of options available when connecting your interface devices.
Unlike the GA-890FXA-UD5 the 990FX does not come with board mounted switches for power, reset and CMOS clear. Instead you'll need to use the front panel connector headers located in the lower left of the motherboard. Many of the other internal connections are located nearby including a variety of USB2.0 and newer USB 3.0.

You will find eight internal SATA connections. Six come directly from the South Bridge chip with the remaining two more as part of the onboard Marvell 88SE9172 controller.
Included Goodies
In the box you will get everything you need to get up and running. Here you will find 4x SATA3 cables (with the handy locking clips on both ends), IO back plate, installation manuals, driver disk, and two SLI bridges for double and triple card configurations.
It doesn't seem like much but is plenty for the majority of builds.
