Trade shows are necessary evil when it comes to being a media professional.  Sure, you can often get the same information from press release documents but, often you can get the story behind the story by talking to knowledgeable industry professionals directly.

One of the nice byproducts of attending is the occasional swag item and catching up with friends that you may only see while you are out traveling.

Well, at the recent GTC 2025 there were a few secrets to find.  The first was a daily mystery giveaway for an RTX 50 series card that was signed by Jensen Huang and the second was a drawn out process that allowed GTC attendees to buy either an RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 at retail price.

    Of course, while supplies last.

This involved being at a certain location at a certain time that allowed you to pick up a ticket.  That ticket allowed you to visit a truck and get the option to pay for a video card.  Now, you didn’t actually get your video card at the truck but rather a receipt proving that you paid for the card.  Later that day you had to visit a third location at a certain time to claim your purchase.

Since the tickets were limited, there were rumors of people camping out at 3am just to get a chance to buy an RTX 5090.

Overall, it was a fun experience and a nice addition to the Hardware Asylum Labs.
