SilverStone FARA 514X High Air Flow Case Review
Author: Dennis GarciaInstall and Conclusion
Another thing you will want to watch for us motherboard support. The SilverStone FARA 514X supports three basic motherboard form factors. ATX (12" x 11"), Micro-ATX (9.6" x 9.6"), Mini-ITX (6.7" x 6.7")
ATX will be the largest board you could install due to the location of the cable access and proximity to the edge of the motherboard. This is a great feature for cable management but, does prevent you from installing the ASUS Apex that you got for graduation.
The overall height of the chassis does leave enough room for certain fan and radiator combos while the bottom offers just enough room for cable access.
In this review we looked at the SilverStone FARA 514X High Airflow computer case. While “high airflow” seems to be the flavor of the week the concept is not without merit. As computer systems start to consume more power they will begin to generate considerable heat. This can impact gaming performance and the lifespan of many components including mechanical fans, SSDs and even the motherboard.
Having a chassis with good cooling can ensure that your build runs trouble free and won’t get you outed at the next LAN Party for being one of those “Quiet Silent Types”. The point of a personal build is to make a statement and tasteful lighting combined with good cooling is the right way to make an impression.
Early in this review I talked about “Right Sizing” your PC build and picking a case that makes use of your chosen hardware without taking up too much space is an important factor to consider with modern system builds. While a standard sized case just feels right, there is no reason for the extra space if you never plan to use it.
Overall, I find the FARA 514X from SilverStone to be a really nice case. It supports all of the major and popular features and takes a mainstream approach to hardware support. You won’t be building a full high-end enthusiast build in the FARA 514X without extensive modifications but, that also isn’t the point. If you want to go big there are other SilverStone cases for you to choose from.
