SilverStone FARA 514X High Air Flow Case Review
Author: Dennis GarciaCase Layout and Features
The FARA 514X features a tempered glass side panel. Don’t mind the artifact that looks like a spider crack, that is just a bundle of cables on the other side. The glass is not shaded but looks that way due to the black interior.
Turning the case around reveals a completely flat back panel with two thumb screws and built in handle for panel removal. You’ll find ample venting both in the elongated 120mm fan location, expansion slot covers and panel area.
This angle also shows off the primary exhaust vent positioned at the top of the chassis with options to support a single 120mm fan. Unlike some cases on the market you will find that SilverStone includes decent cooling fans to support the high airflow concept.
The front panel controls feature two USB 3.0 ports, a single USB Type-C, large power button, reset and LED button. Individual analog audio ports for gaming headphones and microphone are located in back.
Expansion slots include the standard 7 for primary expansion cards with some additional venting along the side. Several SilverStone designs offer a vertical GPU mounting in this location but, is rarely an option at this price point.
I don’t talk mention this as much as I should but, the overall chassis design is quite nice and very simple. The front bezel features two angle cuts that allow the airflow frame to wrap completely around the front bezel. Others cases try to be fancy and introduce curves or keep things flat square and boring.
Angles are where it is at for the future of the DIY computer hobby.
