Overclocking at the Boise LAN
Every year Dennis tries to do a little demonstration at the Boise LAN both to promote the website and to do a little “extreme PC” session that normally includes some sort of overclocking. The first time Dennis did some DICE (Dry Ice) overclocking and really turned out quite well. The following year was a change to 3-Way SLI overclocking with GTX 780’s on an X79 motherboard unlike with the Dice cooling this system drew too much power and tripped the breakers a couple times.
In an attempt to be a little more LAN friendly it was decided that LN2 was the answer. Not only would it be more power friendly but adds the element of Liquid Nitrogen to the mix.
The system was a Core i7 7740X on a ROG Rampage VI Apex with a, EVGA GTX 780Ti KPE video card. In this episode Dennis talks about setting up a system for LN2 overclocking and how difficult it can be to overclock in front of a crowd.
In this episode Dennis also talks about some of his gear including the BEAST LN2 container he uses. This container is very rare and could be considered one of the best you could buy. Of course, that all depends on what system you are using and how big your pocketbook is.
