OpenAI and ChatGPT have been in the news lately as the next great thing in artificial intelligence that may change how we perceive, consume and even generate content in the future. Results from the ChatGPT database can not only write essays but change the tone of the writing to match popular writers and even famous speeches. For programmers, you can ask ChatGPT a question about your code and it can provide you with snippets and complete programs to attain your goals.
In this episode the duo talk about the current AI offerings and discuss some of that many pros and cons associated with current AI and how it can quickly become unchecked depending on the source material used to generate the results.
Of course, this is not the first time we have seen Chat Bots and general AI generated content. Over the past several years AI systems that generate DeepFake content have started to create problems that not only impact social issues and entertainment but can be used as part of identity theft and even corporate espionage. Combine that with AI generated artwork, music and videos and we have everything we need to create a complete artificial world using generated content.
Not all AI implementations are bad either. Many of us have used Amazon Alexa, Cortana and Siri as personal assistants to help in our daily lives and do some of the hard work we might have to do manually. These systems are highly specialized and yet have a limited range when it comes to what they can do. Combine these systems with robots or holograms and the sky is the limit for what they can do and benefits they can provide.
