    Patriot VIPER LED Memory Overview

The heatspreader found on the Patriot VIPER LED modules is a black anodized part that wraps around the module with some decorative cuts along the edges and where it makes contact with the light bar.

Graphics are screen printed to the module with the only raised area being the VIPER logo located in the middle.  The logo features a machined finish and is otherwise the only raised part on the module.

The heatspreaders are then bonded to the memory module and work extremely well at absorbing excess heat especially when overclocking.

Module height has always been a concern when it comes to system builds since heatsink manufactures often build their designs based on JEDEC module standards.  This is great when using vanilla memory modules but, once you switch to performance memory your cooling method can becomes a concern.

In terms of overall height the module measures a little over 1.75 inches tall which appears to be one of the new accepted standards in module height.  Given that most high-end builds have switched to AIO cooling overall module height is less of a concern however is something builders need to know when planning out their systems.

Under the heatspreader (if I had removed it) you will find a full height memory PCB with an array of BGA memory chips soldered across.  The module is single sided however there are thermal pads on both sides.

Of course the LEDs are located across the top and shine through the translucent light bar.  This bar features the VIPER logo and some cuts to accent the heatspreader design.

As far as heatspreaders go this is one of the more decorative designs I have seen.
