DeepCool KG722 65% RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review

The DeepCool KG722 keyboard measures in at 310 x 101.6 x 39 mm (about 12 x 4 x 1.5 inches) and weighs a trim 584 g (20.6 ounces) making it one of the lightest keyboards I have used. This 65% form factor is becoming more popular due to the portability and for smaller student desks, where every inch is critical.
At first glance the tiny KG722 looks quite different than most competitors thanks to the side etched keycaps. The ABS keys look sharp and are rated to 50 million inputs. Things look even better with the RGB lit.
The back side is rather basic with more of a bathtub installation into the sold ABS frame. The keyboard is supported by a set of rubber feet. No adjustability options are available and no wrist rest is included for ergometric adjustments. The entire build feels sloid with no flex even when I muscle it a bit!
Here is a closer look at the keycaps with the Gateron switches slightly visible for the RGB backlighting.
One of the major things that changes on a 65% keyboard is the loss of keys you may be dependent on. Other keys are suddenly jammed together by the form factor. Finding eth arrow keys by touch is almost impossible and using the function keys in a game is a quick way to get yourself killed!
One nice advantage of the KG722 is the use of a USB type C connector and a detachable cable. The included cable is a pretty solid 1.8 meter (about 6 foot) braded cable. In my experience the cable is often eth weak spot on these mechanical cables so replaceability is a great asset.
The included USB cable is a more traditional USB Type B to Type C connector to maximize compatibility with current systems. Also included is a keycap removal tool making key cap upgrades an easy option though no additional key caps are included. I would have loved to see a WASD or arrow set in the same Blue as the accent key for FPS gaming!
