    Conclusion

The Danger Den DD-M6 waterblock is one of the largest we have seen, it's over twice the size of the MC-TDX and considerably heavier due to its all metal construction.  While some people may take issue with that we find the size to be perfect for the LGA2011 (and LGA1366) as it covers the entire CPU.   The M6 is a two barb block that features internal water channels designed to replicate the performance of triple barb blocks of days gone by.  Routing the water internally does add to the overall weight of the M6 but this is a small price to pay for a higher flow block design.

Overall performance was very good and the C/W numbers proved that the M6 waterblock can handle a decent amount of heat.  For our tests we used a triple fan radiator for so we could test single and triple fan configurations.  In both instances we noticed a 4c degree drop in load temperatures lending itself more to the capacity of the M6 over how well our radiator performed.

Installation was rather straight forward and not unlike any other Danger Den waterblock installation.  In this review we used the Gigabyte X79 UD3 which uses the Intel recommended CPU socket design.  There are some boards, like the Asus Rampage IV Extreme, that use a slightly different socket design that places the mounting holes on the backside of the motherboard.  This can change how you install the waterblock so use our instructions as a guideline for the typical system and realize there are other options out there.  We also cannot say enough about the new thumbnuts and how much they dress up a typical waterblock installation, now all we need is black chrome compression fittings so we can finally ditch those stainless steel hose clamps.
