    Conclusion

In my case reviews I like to look at a particular chassis from the view of a casemodder.  This was an easy thing to do when cases actually required modification.  However, these days just about any case you buy will come with a variety of things that every enthusiast requires.

    Good Cooling
    Expandability
    Personalization Options
    Great Outward Style

Cooling was always a major factor to consider and with the Thermaltake View 71 TG we have plenty of fan locations and fan options.  We also get tempered glass on four sides along with allowanced for plenty of airflow.  This is a HUGE feature given that many tempered glass cases have been called restrictive due to how the glass is attached.

Along the same lines when looking for a case with good cooling you want a system that will prevent the intake fans from pulling in exhaust air from inside the case.  With the View 71 does have adequate airflow there are also plenty of holes where intake fans can “short circuit” and pull air from inside the case over fresh air from outside.  This works on the principle that intake air will take the path of least resistance which is often not through a fan filter.

When it comes to personalization options the View 71 is extremely good.  The tempered glass side panels allow unique views into the case and will allow you to show off your DIY watercooling loops using the latest TT Premium watercooling gear.  There isn’t much to improve because the options are endless.

Expandability and outward style are often things you don’t associate together but, with the Thermaltake View 71 it was a design principle from the beginning.  A good example is the vertical video card mount that allows you to show off your video card while still allowing you to use additional cards on your motherboard.  Sadly you won’t be able to run SLI or Crossfire but being able to show off your custom video card waterblock is priceless at the local LANs.

In terms of other modifications I’m always pushing to have cases custom painted.  Unfortunately with the View 71 a good majority (read: ALL) of the visible surfaces are plastic meaning that some of your paint options will be limited.  I might suggest replacing the fan filters with modders mesh which can accept custom colors and depending on what you install the motherboard and other interior panels could be color matched.

Due to the lack of paint options I might suggest bringing the mod inside the chassis and concentrate on lighting effects and DIY water loops.  This will not only look great but puts the radiator on the exhaust side of the chassis and thus preventing fans from pulling air from inside the case.

Overall I really like the View 71 from the first time I saw it in person at CES 2018.  It had great curb appeal and fully addressed the cooling concerns of the easily offended armchair warriors.  Sadly as a result the case is larger than you would expect and does have some weight which can be a problem if you regularly move your system around.  For some these concerns are not an issue making the View 71 a good canvas for your next project.

    Good Things

    Dual Purpose Drive Trays
    Watercooling Options
    Many Radiator Locations
    Clear Plastic Bezel
Can Support RGB LEDs and RGB Fans

    Bad Things

Too many holes where fans are mounted
    No PSU cover
