    Define 7 System Mockup

In an attempt to provide a bit of scale I installed the ASUS STRIX TRX40-3 Gaming motherboard to check motherboard alignment and see what kind of cooling clearances we have to work with.  This motherboard is an E-ATX board and one of the larger ones I had at my fingertips.  With the motherboard installed you’ll see that there is plenty of room surrounding the board to route cables and a good amount of space at the top of the case for additional fans and radiator.

Clearances at the bottom of the case get a little tight but with the large cable routing hole near the front edge there should be no problem getting front panel controls connected along with any fans that need to be installed.

Fractal Design didn’t include any RGB features with the Define 7 and at this price point I am humbled and yet surprised.  The basement panel offers a great canvas for installing RGB features but, blocks them completely to maintain a clean look.

I do like how there is ample room to the right of the motherboard.  As I mentioned before this area is primarily set aside for the 3.5” storage rack but can also offer space for watercooling components including pumps and reservoirs.
