Unless you have been living under a rock you will have likely already heard about the new Ada Lovelace GPUs from NVIDIA and that they are due to be released on October 12th of 2022. As with most GPU launches there will likely be a massive demand for the new GPU along with questionable availability. This instability typically lasts for a couple months until the supply chain starts to match normal demand levels. There will likely be a few Crypto zealots messing with available inventory though we largely expect cards to be available for purchase by actual gamers to be used for their intended purpose.
However, the real question is..

- And, why should any of us care??
In this episode the duo talks about the recent GTC press announcement and dive into the available specs and technology to determine if the 4x performance gains are something you can actually expect or just some cherry-picked results based on controlled lab results.
For the most part the specifications are extremely good and the flagship RTX 4090 is going to be a MONSTER. However, when you start to look at down market cards that is where spec hunting can quickly send you down a rabbit hole. For instance, there are a couple versions of the RTX 4080 with different memory configurations and bus-widths. This has drawn some attention for being less than ideal but, is also how NVIDIA has decided to handle the performance target.
We will know more in the next few months about what cards to buy and which ones to ignore.
