Final Assembly
I decided to let the paint cure two days before attempting to reassemble anything. Automotive clear is extremely tough but only after it has started to harden. Putting the case back together was a reversal of the disassembly process and since I only removed the drive cages it was just a delicate balance of moving the part into position and bending one tab over for clearance.
Assembly went really well. As I had mentioned before most modern cases are held together with aluminum rivets and what better way to reassemble a case than with the same rivets. I didn’t take the time to color match them but a little model paint will fix that without any risk of damaging the finish.
