    Testing and Conclusion

Testing audio quality is very subjective and cannot be measured without thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment.  Even then, no two people hear sound quite the same way.  Still comparing audio provides a way to determine how clearly you might hear different instruments on a music track or how well you can identify direction in a surround sound game.

To test the Naga 80 soundbar I connected first to our Sound Blaster X5 via the Aux cable. The sound bar is under my monitor and unblocked at about 4 feet from my primary listening spot. This puts the distance to the primary sound stage at about 4 feet.  The office is about 14x14 and completely closed to let the sound bar work with the acoustics of the room.

I ran through the usual selection of FLAC titles to really get an idea of the range.  Firing up the first FLAC put an immediate smile on my face! Audio was crisp and full right out of the box. I like to start with a little Pink Floyd to get a good impression of the richness of the sound stage. Time and Money sound great with the same clear separation and a clarity I have grown to expect from Majority. The onboard subwoofer response was noticeable and punchy.

For Pc use, I had to give that Battlefield 2042 a go.  Over a couple of days, I played several long sessions with the Naga 80 as my primary source.  Long time readers will know I prefer a good set of surround sound headphones for gaming but the clarity of the sound and the directional feedback were both better than expected. I also hooked up our home grown subwoofer for some extra bass. I am impressed!

For Home theater testing, I hooked the Naga 80 up to my Samsung Q70C via ARC compatible HDMI. I typically run a high-end Samsung HW-Q990C 11.1.4 Soundbar as my daily driver and consider a soundbar option an excellent choice for all but the most discerning audiophiles.  Once again, the Naga 80 surprises with clear vocals and a good range of surround sound.

    Conclusion

Majority continues to impress me with just how much performance they are getting out of these budget friendly soundbars. The Naga 80 looks fantastic and sounds like it should cost much more.  Adding an external subwoofer is a great option to expand your sound as well. I also appreciate the extra control the HDMI ARC support provides

With home audio we often find you get what you pay for. Majority’s Naga 80 shows you can get more!  Those looking for a soundbar with an included subwoofer should consider one of their Plus line of soundbars or stretch to the Everest system.  With Majority, there doesn’t seem to be a wrong answer!
