    Testing and Conclusion

Testing audio quality is very subjective and cannot be measured without thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment.  Even then, no two people hear sound quite the same way.  Still comparing audio provides a way to determine how clearly you might hear different instruments on a music track or how well you can identify direction in a surround sound game.

To test the D40X speakers I connected first to our Sound Blaster X5 via the Aux cable. I ran through the usual selection of FLAC titles to really get an idea of the range.  Almost immediately I was greeted with A robust, and surprisingly full ranged sound.  I like to start with a little Pink Floyd to get a good impression of the richness of the sound stage. Time and Money sound great with clear separation and a clarity I would normally expect from a much more expensive set of bookshelf speakers. Even the bass response was noticeable and punchy.

Next, I connected directly to my Pixel phone via Bluetooth 5.3 and fired up a couple of streaming services. Audio sounds great with no delays.  I played music from a variety of sources and again found the D40X punching above its price in every case. Sound is well defined with great reproduction across the mids and highs.  While I do miss a dedicated subwoofer, the ported drivers performed confidently on tracks with an emphasis on mid-bass and better than expected on deeper bass reproduction.

    Conclusion

I am simply astonished with what majority’s Engineering Team has been able to accomplish with the D40x speakers! Audio is crisp and detailed across a variety of sources. The enclosures look like they should cost hundreds more as well.

For an audiophile on a budget or an enthusiast looking to maximize your speaker value, you need look no further. Majority’s D40X Bookshelf Speakers show just how much sound you can get in a small package!
