    Conclusion

As an overclocker and system builder I often recommend that users buy highest capacity PSUs they can afford, not because it is needed but rather, I want to make sure that everything has adequate power and to reduce the thermal footprint.  The 80Plus rating system applies mostly to power efficiency but can also give you a good indication that the rated power can be trusted.  The DeepCool PX850G 850W is rated at 80Plus Gold making it a very attractive product to those who appreciate a quality PSU.

In looking at the label we can see that this is a single rail PSU with 70.8A available on the +12V rail and 20A available for both +3.3 and +5v.

The overall design is quite nice and very clean in terms of design.  All venting is comprised of a stamped square mesh for excellent airflow and strength.  You’ll find stamped versions of the DeepCool logo in the corner of the PSU which feature the DeepCool teal as an accent color.  I find this attention to detail to be a nice feature when compared against other companies who simply screen print their graphics over the bare chassis.

This PSU is completely RGB free and All of the cables are the flat ribbon variety and feature black connectors on both ends.  I do like the selectable Hybrid Fanless mode to control overall fan activity.  For my build I would always have the Hybrid mode enabled however, if I was using this PSU on my test bench the Hybrid mode would always be off.

Cooling is handled by a 135mm fan and is a nice touch to maximize cooling surface area and reduce the potential for excessive noise.  The idea here is that larger fans can spin slower while offering the same airflow.  This cools the components faster while reducing active fan time.  As mentioned, the fan is already extremely quiet and a good match for this product.

Overall, I find the DeepCool PX850G 850W PSU to be quite nice.  The overall black design helps ensure the PSU will match most system builds and the flat ribbon cables are easy to manage but, do require some extra effort to route correctly.
