    Product Layout and Features

One of the features of the DeepCool PX850G is the switchable hybrid mode designed to change how the 135mm fluid dynamic fan operates.  When Hybrid mode is enabled, the fan will go into a Zero RPM state while the PSU load is below a certain threshold.  However, if you wish to have the fan operate normally and spin 100% of the time then, you will want to disable the Hybrid Fanless mode.

This feature is designed to enable a silent mode when your PC is idle or hibernating.  Under most circumstances the 80 Plus Gold rating will ensure that your PSU will generate less heat when operating below 85% and thus, not require any active cooling.

As mentioned, the PX850G comes equipped with a 135mm cooling fan and protected behind a stamped square mesh grill.  I have a soft spot for the traditional wire fan grills from an esthetic standpoint with extremely open stamped designs like this coming in second.

The DeepCool PX850G is fully modular and features clearly marked power connections on the back of the PSU.  CPU and PCI Express power connections are interchangeable while Peripheral and the Main power connections are rather unique.

You will find the 12VHPWR connection is clearly indicated in the DeepCool Teal color and located in the lower right.

    Included Cables

With the rapid changes in how computers are assembled we will start to see a major change in what cables are included with each PSU.  I am happy to say that the DeepCool PX850G comes with enough cables to populate every plug on the modular backplane.

All of the included cables are a flat ribbon style and feature high quality connectors on both ends.

The most important are the main 24-pin motherboard power and associated 8-pin CPU power.  This PSU supports dual 8-pin CPU power connections and being modular you can match the cables to what your motherboard demands.

You will get a total of three PCI Express power cables each with a single plug.  The plug supports both 6-pin and 8-pin configurations and measures 650mm in length.

Peripheral cables are split between a dedicated MOLEX only cable and two SATA only cables.  Ideally, you shouldn’t need to use the MOLEX cable but, it extremely nice to have for when you do.

The final cable is the new 12VHPWR cable and features the same flat ribbon design with lighter gauge wires used for the S1-S4 pins across the top.  Sadly, these are not integrated into the ribbon pack but do lay flat against the existing wires for easy routing and cleanup.

I am happy to say that DeepCool has also included a set of Velcro cable wraps and high-quality power cable.  You’ll also get the elusive remote start adapter that will short the Power on and Ground wires together to activate the PSU.

This is a nice accessory for when you are filling a DIY watercooling loop or using this PSU as a secondary unit in a much larger rig.  I have built similar tools in the past with a short piece of wire but, it is nice to have a guaranteed method for activating a PSU without danger of shorting wires that should not be crossed.
