    Conclusion

A system is only as good as its weakest component so why skimp on a good power supply?  Cooler Master has provided a solid foundation to build from with the Silent Pro Hybrid 1050W power supply.  The power supply looks great in windowed installations thanks to the flexible all black cabling and with a fully modular setup you only need to install the cables you need.  The control panel looks great too offering a hint at what you have under the hood in windowless installations.

As with the entire Silent Pro Hybrid series, you get the advantages of an 80Plus Gold rated power supply.  This means you can count on the Hybrid 1050W to provide stable efficient power when your system needs it.  It also means you can look for a significant savings when your system is idle that might be enough to cover the cost of your Hybrid over the life of the unit.  To help make this possible Cooler Master offers a 5 year warranty on the Hybrid series when you register online.

Sometimes it seems like all power supplies are basically the same.  It's nice to see Cooler Master thinking outside the box with the Silent Pro Hybrid line.  Not only are you able to run up to 5 extra fans off of the power supply and controller, you can run your system with little or no fan noise when it is not needed.  I like the ability to manually crank up the cooling when I am running through benchmarks or working on some overclocking and run silently when I don't need all that air flow.  This extra ability along with the controller adds a bit to the cost compared to similar 80Plus rated power supplies but can be offset by the cost you would need to pay for a separate controller.
