Conclusion
I spent quite a bit of extra time using the ROCCAT Kone[+] and Isku together in order to get the feel for the entire system for this review. With Isku I had come directly from a high end gaming mechamical keyboard featuring brown cherry switches. That's pretty tough competition but Isku fared better than you might expect. Keystrokes were confident and crisp with no discernable lag or false feedback. The shape and placement of features took some adjustments and I confess I often forgot I had set up Easy-Shift Keys in the heat of battle but that will come with time.
If one has to find a negative its in the fact that Kone[+] offers so much custimization to the lighting that Isku just seems to be missing out. Just blue is sort of a letdown when Kone[+] eagerly does so much with the color pallet and effects. I also found that the lack of a USB port or two was noticable at the current price point. I rarely use them but they seem to be a common feature across the competition.
With Kone[+] ROCCAT has really pulled out all the stops. Despite my preference for wireless mice, I find that I have no desire to put this mouse away. The shape and finish feel great in my hand and the weight is now perfect for even the longest gaming sessions. I have used a lot of mice and there is very little about the Kone[+] I can find fault with from design to driver.
My suggestion, find a Kone[+] and give it a try. I think you will end up taking it home too.
There is no doubt ROCCAT has worked to address the needs and desires of serious gamers with both the Isku and the Kone[+]. Individually both products are strong in their categories with the Kone[+] easily my favorite. Together both products are made stronger by the Talk system. Its not hard to suggest if you do take the leap on ROCCAT the sum of both products is greater than the individual strengths alone.
