    Ajazz AK820 Max

75% Gasket-mounted Hot Swappable Mechanical Wireless Keyboard

For our next keyboard, we will be looking at the Ajazz AK820 Max. The AK820 Max is an 82 key 75% TKL keyboard design offered through Epomaker as an alternative to their inhouse designs. Like all TKL designs, keys are compressed or combined to maximize space.

The Ajazz AK820 max is the latest on the AK820 line offering an upgraded design with a more ergonomic, rounded case and a modernized control knob for enhanced usability. You can check out the other Ajazz offerings, including the AK820 line, directly from Epomaker.

Our AK820 Max came in a somber black grey style but you can also elect for the white blue or grey, beige and orange. Each denotes the color scheme of the top to bottom fade that makes this design so visually appealing!

Ajazz AK820 Max Layout and Features

The Ajazz AK820 Max shares the same full featured Mechanical keyboard advantages and layout as the Epomaker RT65. The major differences are the Flex-cut FR4 Plate construction and the noise dampening construction.

Per Epomaker: Utilizing FR4 for the plate material, known for its density and flexibility, the AK820 Max bridges the feel between aluminum and PC plates, providing a stable yet responsive typing experience. The AK820 Max also incorporates a silicone layer at the base, flanked by two cotton layers and an IXPE switch pad. This configuration effectively dampens the noise from keystrokes, ensuring a solid and satisfying acoustic experience.

The Ajazz AK820 Max Wireless Mechanical Keyboard builds on the success of the AK820 Pro, offering an upgraded design with a more ergonomic, rounded case and a modernized control knob for enhanced usability. This model retains the best features of its predecessors while introducing improvements for a superior typing experience.

With a size of just 333.35 × 144.97 × 43.82mm (~13.13 x 5.7 x 1.73 inches) and a trim weight of approximately 770g this is the smallest keyboard we have today, if by just a tiny bit! Including a 4000mAh battery keeps the weigh manageable.

You have probably already noticed the keycaps have a side etching rather than the traditional top etching. This works well with the South-facing Dynamic RGB Light. 16 preset light effects are included and the lighting can be set to react to the music you play using audio perception technology to match the rhythm.

No software support is offered at this time.

The right side contains the compressed keyset that makes for the TKL layout. A prominent metal control knob up top provides additional options and multimedia control.

Connectivity options are located across the top allowing PC vs Mac compatibility and each of the three connectivity options.  USB connectivity is via the included matching USB -C cable.

Additional ergometric adjustability is offered via two double-stage adjustable footrests supported by anti-slip rubber pads that confidently hold things in place.  The wireless receiver is cleverly stored inside the back footrest when not in use.

The AK820 Max ships with a black USB cable, two key cap/switch removal tools, a user manual and two extra switches.

Only one switch type is offered on this model so far, the Sea Salt Switch. This two-tone white switch is a 3pin design with:

    • Total Travel: 3.5±0.4mm
    • Pre-Travel: 2.0±0.5mm
    • Initial Force: 50±10gf
    • Bottom-out Force: 57±10gf
    Conclusion

Ajazz has really provided a performance bargain in the AK820 MAX.  I love the fading color schemes and the side facing letters for an eye-catching minimalistic look!  No gimmicks here just a solid performer at a good price.

The Ajazz 820 Max simply provides tri-mode connectivity and full customization at an amazing price point.

    Regular price: $79.99
