    Conclusion

In this review we took a look at the IceMyst 420 from SilverStone.  iceMyst is a premium all in one cooler series and available in four different size configurations.  The 420mm featured in this review is the largest supporting triple 140mm fans and large braided hoses.  IceMyst 360 is a triple 120mm version while the smaller 240mm and 280mm are the dual fan versions.  These coolers all feature the same expandable pumpblock design with a three phase, six pole pump motor, slightly convexed copper baseplate and RGB ring under the removable top cover.

What I find interesting about the IceMyst system is the overall modular design.  Each of the included fans have a single 8-pin connector for fan and ARGB lighting control along with a custom length cable to ensure that each fan can be easily daisy chained together with just enough wire to cleanly fit the 420mm radiator.  The pumpblock is also modular allowing users to include additional fans using the proprietary IMF70 70mm ARGB fan modules.  These modules mount directly to the top of IceMyst series AIO coolers to provide additional cooling to areas around the CPU.  The large 70mm fan is fully PWM controlled, extremely silent and offers even more ARGB lighting without any additional cables.

By adding one or more of these 70mm fans you expand not only the RGB footprint but also the cooling performance.

Performance was exceptional due to the large 420mm radiator and could be tuned in a variety of ways from PWM adjustments at the pump to custom fan profiles for both the radiator and 70mm IMF70 fan units.  While the extra surface area can increase CPU performance you could also move the opposite way and build a much quieter system and take full advantage of the extra-large radiator and slow-moving fans.  It was also nice to see an AIO cooler finally offer some decent thermal capacity to the spicy LGA1700 platform.

One issue I did encounter was realted to the braided hoses.  Normally, you can reposition radiators any way you like and the hose will bend to accommodate.  However, with the IceMyst 420 I found the hoses to be rather restrictive and causing some strange bends and twists that would not flatten out.  Placing the radiator above the motherboard created an interesting loop around the pump block while, this was not an issue if the radiator was position near the front of a case,

Overall, I find the IceMyst Series of AIO coolers to be a nice addition to the SilverStone line up that not only bring some innovative cooling solutions to the table but also offering a much larger 420mm radiator option to 140mm fan enthusiasts.  Normally these users would be limited to expensive DIY loops and they now have some more options available.  I do like the overall design aesthetic and find the additional 70mm fan modules to be nicely executed.

As with most innovative solutions there are plenty of proprietary parts with the IceMyst 420 from and cute 70mm fan modules to the included 140mm fans and their unique multi pin connectors.  Given the reliability of modern cooling parts this is less of an issue unless you are the type who enjoy mixing and matching parts.
