Silverstone Raven RVZ01 Mini-ITX Case Review
Author: Dennis GarciaCase and System Installation
Building a system in the RVZ01 is a little more involved than your typical tower and the biggest obstacle is space. Here are some basic things to look out for when building your system. First consider the motherboard configuration and cooling. Cables on Mini-ITX motherboards are typically opposite of the expansion slots which puts them far away from the PSU. You will want to make sure the power cables are long enough without being “too” long and that SATA cables also can reach the drives. Along the same lines your cooling solution can interfere with cables in the system. With the Raven RVZ01 you’ll be limited to an OEM/Low Profile cooler if you plan to have a discrete video card but can use an AIO watercooler without.
For those using a discrete video card you will need to first mount the card to the graphics card support bracket and brace the card using the included brackets. This keeps the card from moving around too much.
The video card will need to interface with the riser card and you’ll need to use this short extension for proper fitment.
After everything has been assembled you can replace the graphics card support bracket and plug the riser card into the motherboard. Keep in mind that the riser card does lock into place just like any graphics card but the cards don’t lock into the riser.
Hooking up the front panel connectors and hard drives will be the final step and also the first thing to get disconnected if you need to work on the system.
