New Graphics Cards and AI Enabled Hardware from Gigabyte during CES 2025
Author: Dennis GarciaIntroduction
One of the exciting releases during Computex 2024 was the AI Top product line from Gigabyte. These new motherboards are specially designed for the unique demands of AI development and now range to include most every available chipset from the AMD B850 up to the TRX50 Threadripper and Intel W790.
While these motherboards may look like something you would see in your standard workstation they have been configured to support more system DRAM, multiple graphics cards and a multitude of M.2 slots to give users everything they need to do AI model development offline and at their desk.
What I found interesting is that the Intel Z890 Aorus Xtreme AI Top is one of the few boards to feature an included memory cooler and only a single 16x PCI Express graphics slot.
As you would expect there where RTX 50-Series video cards on display encompassing the entire line up from 5090 down to the mainstream 5070.
The final item I wanted to bring up from the Gigabyte suite at CES 2025 is the resurgence of Mini ITX. Many motherboard makers have abandoned the form factor due to the potsmoking state power requirements that force System integrators to build full ATX gaming rigs to meet power efficiency demands.
What is interesting is that the Mini ITX form factor is already more power efficient than larger motherboards. It is more space efficient due to the smaller footprint and generally more cost efficient making these power demands a little insane.
Personally, I am glad to see the Mini ITX form factor make a comeback, it really is the perfect form factor for the modern PC and if I wasn’t so old school, I might even use one as my daily driver, or maybe I already do….
Oh and speaking of power efficency, Gigabyte Enterprise was on the main show floor with some rather powerful GPU servers on display.
Pretty sure you could not run either one of these from your house and they cost more than that fancy car you have been dreaming about. It is no wonder why AI is such big business these days.
