It goes without saying that we are in a digital world and over the past 20 years many of us have amassed a rather sizeable collection of images, movies, programs, games, game saves and other downloadable content. The first thing any IT person will tell you is that you need to backup your data and I’m sure many of you have lost something important over the years.
A NAS (Network Attached Storage) system can help you safeguard your data and do much much more. Asustor was showing off their new line of 7 Series NAS devices along with some of the new features of ADM 2.3.
The new SOHO AS7004T shown here now comes with an Intel Core i3 processor, 2GB of RAM and is expandable up to 16GB! The device comes with dual Ethernet and HDMI 1.4 so you can hook your NAS into your entertainment center and actually watch those movies you have saved natively at 4K.
A great value of the Asustor NAS systems is the ability to configure each NAS for a different purpose by simply installing any of the readily available apps from their online catalog. Of course the primary purpose for a NAS is file storage the ability to transcode videos for your mobile device is quite handy or if you wanted to stream the video you could do that too and even choose what bitrate to stream at. The software will transcode the stream on the fly and send it anywhere you happen to be.
The options really are unlimited and go well beyond the storage of files and playback of video. The new 7 Series can also become an email server, a VM (Virutal Machine) server and even hook into your Windows Active Directory.
Check out the Asustor website for more information and even a list of available apps. You might be surprised at what is available.
