HyperX Savage 240GB SSD Review and RAID Performance Testing
Author: Dennis GarciaHyperX Savage 240GB SATA SSD
There isn’t much to say about the HyperX Savage. It is a standard 2.5” SSD drive with a SATA interface. Beyond that the controller is a Phison PS2110-S10 and the drive is quite fast when compared to drives from other manufacturers.
The actual SSD case is very unique in that it is also heavy. Most SSDs come in a thin metal housing offering a light-weight drive that rattles when struck and almost sounds hollow when dropped. This HyperX Savage drive is different.
The top of the drive is made from machined aluminum with the HyperX logo and other graphics created using a relief cut process. What silver graphics you see have diamond cut machine marks giving you a very pretty drive that you will want to show off.
Along the edges you will find more aluminum that makes up the rest of the drive housing and is colored flat black with the exception of the word Savage in gloss letters located at the bottom.
I was able to secure two identical drives for this review with every intention to see if two HyperX Savage SSDs can actually be faster than a M.2 PCI Express based SSD, more specifically the HyperX Predator.
