    Software Testing and Conclusion

Software Is not required nor is the USB sound card for many installations.  For this review we are looking at the latest USB software, Version A001-2024-09.

The software is pretty basic with three tabs for setup: Equalizer, Mic and Virtual 7.1. The equalizer screen allows you to select from 4 presets and manually tune 5 bands as required.

Selecting Mic, gives to access to the gain and mute functionalities.  Both mirror Windows.

On the Virtual 7.1 screen you can adjust the virtual speaker orientation. Strangely, there is no test tone.

    Testing

For testing the Viro Plus, I ran though my normal list of FLAC music to get a baseline on frequency response and comparison against some of my other gaming headsets I have available.  Most of the testing was done over a week of gaming split between Battlefield 2042 and Fortnite.

I was surprised at just how comfortable the Viro Plus felt after a long day of gaming. The pleather did make things hotter than I am used to but the light weight kept thing comfortable even after hours of intense gameplay.  In terms of sound quality, they performed at a level much better than I would have expected when considering the price point.

Music was brisk with a larger than expected bass level. Highs and mids were clear but could be shrill at higher volumes.  The sound stage was much better than expected at this price point. The mic was adequate but hollower that my daily Sennheiser’s with squad mates commenting I sounded distant or hollow. Upping the gain made a dramatic improvement.

Installing via the 7.1 sound card dramatically improved sound quality. Sound was crisp and directional effects were clear. I would recommend paring these with the USB 7.1 sound card whenever possible.

    Conclusion

Endorfy have achieved the impossible, a good set of gaming headphones at a budget price point.  The Endorfy Viro Plus USB 7.1 Headset is can connect to just about anything and the 53mm drivers punch well above their weight.

It’s hard to find fault with so much included for the price.  Sure, some mic tuning was needed to get the sound pick up to be on par with other gaming headsets and the sparce software needs refinement. For the price, you would be hard pressed to find a better gaming headset package!
