    Benchmarks - Overclocked

As with all of our reviews, we pit the default speed system against the overclocked one in a head-to-head byte match.  The effective overclock for these tests is 4.7GHz @ 46x multiplier and 103 BLCK.  The results are show below.
    SiSoft Sandra Various Overclocks
    Unreal Tournament 3
    Crysis
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
    Overclocking Conclusion
Overclocking the Sandy Bridge architecture is a little different from what we are accustomed to, in fact the process reminds us of the old days when there was only a few clocks you could adjust and the combo of those would be the resulting overclock.

We are one of the lucky ones with a golden 2600K that has been known to run at 5.7Ghz under single stage phase.  However, under aircooling it prefers to kick back a little and seems to settle in at around 4.7-4.9Ghz depending on the motherboard.  For these tests we clocked in at 4.7Ghz and had no issues.

There are two sets of overclocking numbers here.  The first set is what you would expect using the GTX 580 are your primary graphics device.  For the second set we disabled Virtu and allowed the game to use the iGPU for the game tests.  As you can imagine overclocking doesn't do much for the iGPU whereas the discrete card scaled quite well.
