GSKill Trident Z 4133Mhz RGB CL19 DDR4 Dual Channel Memory Review
Author: Dennis GarciaGSKill TridentZ Memory Overview
The GSKill Trident Z modules feature a full coverage aluminum heatspreader that is quite thick with some accent parts that help to dress up the module once installed. The ornate design is two sided with one side featuring a brushed grey anodized finish while the reverse features the same brushed finish in black. At the top of the module you’ll find a white accessory which happens to be the RGB LED light bar.
The heatspreaders are then bonded to the memory module and work extremely well absorbing excess heat. DDR4 doesn’t get very hot under normal conditions. This quickly changes when overclocking since you’ll be sending in extra voltage to support frequency and timing updates.
Module height has always been a concern when it comes to system builds since heatsink manufactures often build their designs based on JEDEC module standards. This is great when using vanilla memory modules but, once you switch to performance memory your cooling method does becomes a concern.
In terms of overall height the module measures a little over 1.75 inches tall which makes them the same as the older TridentX module at its highest point. Given that most high-end builds have switched to AIO cooling overall module height is less of a concern giving rise to style over size.
Under the heatspreader (if I had removed it) you will find a standard height memory PCB with an array of BGA memory chips on one side of the memory module. Unlike some of the other modules we have reviewed the PCB doesn’t come with any special cooling features, lights or extra connectors.
