Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Heatsink Review

Conclusion
The Hyper 212 is a tower style core contact cooler that places each of the 6mm heatpipes directly across the CPU for the best thermal contact possible. This configuration works great in that it reacts quickly to changes in thermal load but tends to do a poor job at moving that heat up the tower if the fan cannot augment the temperature.
We did observe a higher than expected C/W rating during our standard and overclocking tests which tells us that the cooler was having difficulty with the standard heat load. During our tests we did try a more powerful fan and even doubled them up, but neither seemed to help much with the resulting calculations. On the positive the Hyper 212 Evo did best the OEM cooler, both in overall temperature control and noise so we can accurately say this is a suitable OEM replacement in a standard system.
Installation was rather straight forward and consisted of picking the proper configuration and bolting the entire assembly to your motherboard. We are not fans of the installation hardware and were rather upset to see it still being used after two years, especially given that better methods do exist in the Coolermaster domain.
