    Cooler Installation

The Enermax Liqmax is a universal watercooler meaning it will fit on any modern CPU platform using the included mounting hardware.  The block is pre configured for Intel systems with AMD hardware in the box.

Mounting hardware attaches to the side of the pump block with two screws.  Just make sure the mounting rails are aligned correctly before attaching.

Installing the color is quite simple and straight forward.  I’ll be using an X99 LGA 2011 for performance testing so be sure to consult the manual for specific instllation instructions for LGA 115x, Ryzen and AM3.  (Hint: they use one of the backplates and have bolts that attach the backplate to the cooler though the motherboard.)

First step is to install the mounting posts.  These screw into the CPU socket plate with the longer portion facing up.

Once the posts have been installed apply your favorite thermal paste.  I’m using the Noctua NT-H1 in a five dot pattern.  I find this works best to ensure proper coverage and consistent results.  Use whatever method you feel is right or have been brainwashed into using.

Install the pump block by first figuring out which way the hoses need to exit so the radiator can be installed.  Most 240mm radiators are installed at the top of the case so the hoses will need to face either the front of back of the case to match the radiator position.

Four spring nuts are used to hold the cooler in place.  It is important to slowly tighten them in an X pattern to apply even pressure to the CPU.  This helps ensure a solid mount and the best thermal connection.

Finally install the fans and prepare the rest of your system.  I test in an open bench and prefer to install coolers and memory before the motherboard is installed.

Be sure all wires are connected and start the system.
