Conclusion
We were not lucky enough to review the original Temjin TJ08 and photos of the chassis explain a lot about the design and why it was popular. The design was actually quite typical for a MicroATX case and featured a SECC steel chassis and two 120mm cooling fans. Looking at that case now we can see several flaws in the design that would prevent it from supporting modern computer system, the most notable is the lack of adequate cooling.
Cooling is a major feature of the TJ08-E and instead of relying on two fans you get the power of a single 180mm air penetrator fan to direct air where it needs to be. This design also promotes a positive air pressure situation that will vent the chassis faster than simply using more fans. If you do need additional cooling the case does support a secondary 120mm fan near the bottom of the case.
The TJ08-E supports all MicroATX, Mini-DTX, and Mini-ITX motherboards that come with four or less expansion slots. To add in system assembly the motherboard tray is removable along with most all panels on this case.
In terms of modifications we are hard pressed to find any. Normally we look for ways to install watercooling systems and unless you are using a sealed watercooler your options will be severely limited. There is virtually no additional space in this chassis to house an additional radiator and pump combo without mounting them outside of the case.
Side windows are a popular modification on cases like this. The logical location would be directly over the CPU area and maybe including part of your video card array. Extending much beyond that will expose the hard drive rack and power supply location, which would be less than desirable.
Overall construction is quite good and for a steel chassis the overall weight is extremely light at around 11 pounds. This is due in part to the extremely thin metal used on the body panels.
