Enermax Equilence Silent Case Review

At the bottom of the case you will find an internal 3.5” hard drive rack supporting a total of three drives on plastic trays. The average consumer may install a drive once or twice in a lifetime while system integrators perform that task several times a day. To make the process faster the trays will flex open allowing tool free installation.
On the back of the motherboard try you’ll find two drive panels for installing 2.5” SSD. These attach with a single screw and really help keep your installations clean.
The interior layout is pretty typical of a mid tower case, motherboard on the left and primary cooling coming from the right. The panel next to the motherboard tray is configured for additional cooling and supports up to a 240mm radiator.
One feature I really like, and which might be difficult to see in the photos, is that the front panel is only open where the fans are installed. Everything else is a solid metal. This is important feature because if left open the gaps effectively short circuit the cooling solution and not pull in any outside air.
By leaving the panel closed you force air in from the outside and improve cooling performance.
The front bezel is wired into the case so while you can remove it from the frame the wires will keep it attached. Under the bezel you’ll find a magnetic fine mesh fan filter that will cover all three fan locations.
Speaking for fans the Equilence supports a total of nine 120mm fans or a combo of up to three 140mm fans. An integrated 3-speed fan controller can control up to six fans and you will get three out of the box.
The fan controller is accessible with the front panel controls which include 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, headphone, microphone, power and reset. All are backlit along with the two Enermax logos on the side of the front bezel.
