Case Layout and Features
The outward appearance of the Scout 2 Advanced is virtually identical to the previous Scout 2. Carrying handle is located at the top and both side panels are embossed to give more internal volume.
The primary side of the case features a small shaded window that is positioned to show the topmost PCI Express slot, processor and memory locations. Below the window are two perforated holes for 120mm cooling fans.
Along the reverse you will find the same basic embossing without any window effects or fan positions. Considering the motherboard tray is behind this panel the inclusion of such may be a little counterproductive.

Turning the Scout 2 Advanced around exposes a typical Cooler Master chassis layout with seven expansion slots, single 120mm exhaust fan and a single vertical expansion slot for an additional breakout panel or fan controller. The Scout does come with the patented cable lock system allowing you to secure your mouse and keyboard while you are away.
Front panel connections are an important feature in any modern chassis and the Scout 2 comes with 2x USB 3.0 connections followed by 2x USB 2.0 and analog audio connections for headphones and mic. All of these are concealed under a movable door located near the carrying handle.

Behind the front panel controls you'll find the power and reset buttons and a third button to control the LED fan lights.
Naturally the carrying handle is located at the top of the case and is positioned in the middle to provide a balanced carry position regardless of how you load the system up. The handle is rubber wrapped steel and is very comfortable in your hand. Steel reinforcements anchor the entire handle assembly to the main chassis and are rated to hold up to 66 pounds.
You may not know this but, there are actually 3 handles. The first is obvious and positioned in the middle and comes with a soft grip rubber coating. The other two are located along both sides and provide a balanced carry position for those needing to use two hands to move the case from one place to another. Sadly these handles are plastic wrapped but are equally comfortable to use.
