    Intel X299 Motherboards - X-Series Extreme Overclocking
Computex is a great show and lately many mfgs have used the popular show in Taiwan to launch new products.  Some of those products are made available while others will be released later that summer.  It doesn’t matter what gets released just that something is announced so to build excitement.  The hot item this year was the new Intel Core X-Series and associated X299 chipset.  This announcement allowed motherboard makers to release their 2017 motherboard designs and much to my surprise there is a huge number dedicated to overclocking.

And not the /r/overclocking “help me pick the right Hyper 212 cooler” type of crap overclocking either.  We are talking LN2 scores at 7Ghz and some LNHe records using the Core i7 7740K on a variety of different motherboards all backed by GSKill TridentZ memory.

In this Hardware Asylum Extra we talk about the new platform some of the records and put some rationale behind why X299 and the X-Series is actually a good thing.

    Rookie Rumble
Congratulations to DeanoMax for winning three Rookie Rumbles in a row!  That has to be some kind of record.  On a related note, Dennis (Redmax) really needs to dust off the copper and get back to clockin’
