How to remove the Windows 10 GWX.exe Icon
This might be the best bit of googling I have ever done.
Now don't get me wrong Windows 10 is pretty darn cool and supports DX12 along with some other things. Thing is while I have Windows 10 on the Hardware Asylum Podcast machine I'm happy with Windows 7 on my main machine and have no intention of upgrading.
Of course now, how do I get rid of that pesky annoyance icon?
The basic steps are to
- Kill the GWX.exe process
- Take ownership of the GWX folder
- Give yourself full permissions
- Rename the folder and .exe files (I used .old for the folder and .bak for the executables)
- Use Regedit to remove the tasks so they won't start.
- Do Not uninstall the update as that is the trigger to reinstall it.
Now, we will have a tutorial explaining how you can disable this diarrhea, and get back control over your system. Then we will go into a few more reasons why Windows 10 has just become an undesired piece of software. Thank you, Microsoft, that's a delectable move on your end. To business, then.
The article is filled with Microsoft hate and a middle finger at the end but, so far the process has worked and that little icon is gone.
Now back to the reviews.

G.SKILL RIPJAWS KM780 RGB Keyboard Review @ Legit Reviews
Keyboards seem to see be popular and the Ripjaws KM780 is a new unit I got to see at Computex with a ful RGB set of lights under the keyboard.
Memory manufacture G.SKILL has entered the keyboard market with a high-end RGB mechanical keyboard called the RIPJAWS KM780. There are some curious similarities to Corsair’s K70 and K95 keyboards most notably in the exposed metal backplate, use of Cherry switches, and that both companies are major players in the enthusiast memory market. At the same time, G.SKILL had a vastly different approach with its keyboard and we notice bits and pieces of the features from other mechanical keyboards being brought together with this one. We’re not sure if the KM780 keyboard is supposed to look like a RAM module with the heatspreader, but it does use the same RIPJAWS name from one of G.SKILL’s memory product lines.
I forget exactly what the sliding light bar does but I think it was related to controlling audio volume or light intensity. You might have to check out the review to know for sure.

Ohio website developer with office in Charlotte partners with Spartanburg area schools
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Website creator from Buckeye state with office in Charlotte pairs with Spartanburg area schools
Spartanburg County School District 1 will look to a Columbus, Ohio-based company with an office in Charlotte to relaunch its website with a new, tailor-made design.
eSchoolView, an award-winning company that created its easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS) specifically for schools, opened its North Carolina branch just about a year ago. Spartanburg SD 1 is the company's first client in South Carolina.
Spartanburg's new site should launch in early 2016. It will feature new an improved navigation, Google calendar integration and an enhanced responsive design that is compatible with hand-held browsers. The mobile version of the site will include real-time news, alerts, schedules and contact information.
"We provide a number of tools and services — such as mobility and calendaring — to our clients so they can increase efficiency within their districts," eSchoolView's Executive Director Rob O'Leary said. "This new site will streamline a number of processes so the administration and staff can focus more on delivering the best education it can to its students."
Spartanburg's site will also incorporate active directory integration, a centralized system that manages user data, security and distributed resources while operating with other directories.
eSchoolView builds custom websites for public, private, charter and faith-based K-12 schools across the country and creates other education management software. Its CMS platform also expands a school system's reach through the ability to embed blogs, surveys, RSS feeds, e-newsletters, podcasts and videos.
"We build custom websites," O'Leary said, "but our main goal is to build more effective relationships between school systems and their families."
OneView, one of eSchoolView's newest products aimed at enhancing parent engagement, is a one-of-a-kind solution for managing student data. It combines parent portal features, athletic forms, online enrollment for new students and forms for currently enrolled students in one complete package. OneView eliminates the need for parents and teachers to have multiple accounts.
eSchoolView was created in 2008. Since then, its revenue growth lands the company near the top third (at 1907) of Inc. Magazine's 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. for the second consecutive year.

SteelSeries Rival 100 Gaming Mouse Review @ Hardware Canucks
Several years ago there was a HUGE land rush to create the next best mouse. Some took the route of adding millions of buttons with an infinite amount of resolution and slapped a big price tag on it. Thing is people bought them. Other companies decided that comfort was the most important thing and started creating ornate designs that worked for one group, *cough* Asians */cough* but were way too small for western folk.
This leaves the juicy middle with thousands of different combos to choose from. Will this mouse with its slender design and half cut price tag be the next best thing since the mouse ball?
The SteelSeries Rival 100 is the latest gaming mouse aimed at those who don't want to splash out hundreds of dollars for accurate polling and a delicate sensor. It costs just $40 but does price lead to performance?
Personally I like a little meat with my mice, who cares about buttons or features.
