Computex 2015 Noctua Visit
Author: Dennis GarciaIntroduction
When it comes to high quality aircoolers you can’t go wrong with Noctua, not only are they the leader in silent cooling design but they are always pushing the limit to ensure new designs perform better and follow the same standards of excellence.
One of the highlights of the booth this year was the new A-Series fan design that may not be the quietest design or move the most air but it does provide more static pressure and airflow within the normal operating range (eg, mid RPM) than any other Noctua fan.
This translates into quieter operation and better performance when matched with a watercooling solution or large heatsink. What helps this fan perform is an extremely tight fan tip clearance and long blade design.
The next development in fan offerings isn’t a new frame or super silent motor design but rather custom colored anti-vibration pads. They showed them installed on their industrial fan designs and should install on any fan currently in production.
Two next generation U-Type coolers were on display featuring in both 120mm and 140mm offerings. These coolers will feature even more surface area, up to 50% in some instances, and are specially designed for the new A-Type fan. To provide better motherboard and compatibility the coolers are slightly offset and will come with installation hardware for all modern platforms including Skylake.
