Computex 2015 EVGA Suite Visit
Author: Dennis GarciaIntroduction
Things move pretty fast in the computer hardware world especially when we are on the cusp of new hardware launches. During Computex 2015 EVGA has been announcing an entire lineup of new products and the first, and arguably most exciting, is the NVidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti. EVGA has several skus featuring the new GPU including the famed Classified and Classified KPE.
The KPE or Kingpin Edition is a special version of the Classified tweaked for LN2 oveclocking. The KPE features the popular ACX cooling solution with a copper plated heatsink, chrome heatspreader and custom EVGA backplate. Together these create quite an ensemble that seems to be getting better with each subsequent release.
Anyone who knows anything about EVGA will remember the little red overclocking tool called EVBot. In the beginning EVGA had trouble selling these little devices which seemed to manifest itself into one of the most desired products in recent years.
EVGA has famously stated that they are working on a new EVBot but didn’t mention it would be bundled with a keyboard. At CES this year we got to see a pre-production version of their gaming keyboard and it exhibited great promise. Here is the final version and comes available with either brown or blue cherry switches, LCD screen and EVBot port.
On the motherboard front EVGA had their LGA 1151 motherboards on display and like before they will have three models. The one pictured here is the flagship Classified edition with PLX chip. The FTW and Stinger are also available with similar features to their Z97 counterparts.
When I met with EVGA in April they had mentioned plans for an X99 refresh and the first of those boards will be the X99 Mini 2. This board is similar to the X99 Mini with a few features being upgraded along the way. According to EVGA they are planning more refreshes in the future and should help keep X99 relevant for the near future.
