    MSI Press Conference

Most years I am unable to attend any pre-show events due to my travel arraignments but this year I was able to land early in Taipei and take advantage of what happens before a major trade show.  Most times any pre-show press conference is simply designed to be a candid look at what will be on display so the media will know what to look for but, as we all know, the major reason is for more exposure that they wouldn't ordinarily get.
    MSI
There are several types of pre-show events, the most popular is an actual presentation where the CEO may get up in front of the crowd and explain the company position and introduce the new product lines.  This is exactly what MSI did and their message this year is re-invention.
The new 2013 product lines have once again realigned their product segments but taken things to the next level.  Instead of having mid-range and high-end they products are divided up into 3 segments.  Overclocking, Gaming and Classic.
The Overclocking segment consists of the XPower and MPower line of motherboards and also includes the Lightning edition graphics cards.  As you can imagine these products are designed for extreme overclocking but work equally well under normal load.  The Gaming segment introduces a new color scheme of Red and Black and takes products from the Overclocking line and adds Killer Networks connectivity and Sound Blaster Audio.  Very much what gamers want in a system.  The final product line is called Classic and encompasses the typical mainstream systems that don't fit in either of the specialty lines.
