    Conclusion

The SilverStone Argon V140 is a pretty basic heatsink.  It features a four heatpipe design and single cooling tower.  While this does reduce overall surface area it becomes rather efficient due to heatpipe proximity and reduced restriction as air is pushed through the cooler.  It also makes the cooler a good example of min/max'ing price and performance giving you a great cooler without having to spend a bunch of money.  I find that the design resembles many popular coolers on the market while still remaining uniquely SilverStone.

To handle cooling, you will find a single 140mm ARGB fan included with the Argon V140.  This fan features some unique venting along the frame edges designed to increase airflow while reducing noise.  Overall, the fan is extremely quiet making the slats a nice lighted decoration as well.  The fan will spin between 400-1750rpm pushing 93CFM @ 30.8 dBA when running at full tilt.  During my tests I found the fan to be is rather silent but left me with a feeling that the cooler is underpowered for its size.

Installation of the cooler was rather straight forward using the universal mounting system.  This system builds a base similar to other coolers on the market but tries to reduces the number of components by moving a mounting post from the backplate to the screw that holds everything down.  There isn’t anything wrong with this however it does create the potential for losing the spacers when building up the base.

The Argon V140 is a great cooler that would work best on mid-range system builds where users are in need of a silent cooling solution with some headroom to compensate for less than perfect case cooling conditions.
