    Single Cable Ecosystem

Careful viewers will have noticed three things on the non-windowed side of the RX120.  The first is a non-obtrusive reminder of the fan and airflow direction.  Too many modern fans have excluded this subtle reminder that fans generally blow air in the direction of the motor.

Along either side of this graphic, you will find two components used for the iCUE LINK Smart Component Ecosystem that allows you to physically connect the fans together without the typical fan tail and rgb connector song and dance.

The system is extremely simple.  On the right you will find a small PCB embedded into the fan frame.  This carries the electrical connections required to run the fans, rgb lights and reporting back to the iCUE hub.  On the opposite side is a fitted connection that will hold a plastic post that will allow adjacent fans to be connected together.

For the electrical connections, think expansion slot where a small connector slides over the exposed PCB and is just long enough to connect to the adjacent fan or iCUE cable.

From a construction standpoint the post and connector provide just enough “grip” to keep the fans together and position them for installation into a chassis or radiator.  Having the fans positioned together like this has become an important standard in chassis design from the popularity of radiators and watercooling.  It is only natural that we find ways to link fans without the normal wire clutter

I have seen better systems that are significantly stronger however, the simplicity of the Corsair iCUE LINK Smart Component Eecosystem makes up for the lack of connective strength.

In addition to the three RX120 fans, the starter kit comes with an iCUE hub.  This hub will control every aspect of the RX120 fans and will automatically identify the individual devices you have connected from fans to AIO coolers and water blocks.

You will notice two iCUE connectors on this hub device allowing you to expand your system as needed.

For included hardware you will get the required data and power cables along with two iCUE Link cables.  The longer one is for connecting the hub to the first fan and has a nice 90-degree connector to keep the cable connection clean.

The shorter cable is intended for systems where you have a single fan and need to connect it to a larger grouping
